When Is Too Far…Too Far?

You’ve been on this path for as long as you can remember. You dare not retreat. You feel you are close to the treasures. You can taste it. You are THIS close to cracking it. Not long now. Days go by. Months. Years. Decades.

When exactly is too far? Too far?

Paradox

Many upon many of self help books/gurus will tell you the virtue of sticking by your goals for some type of greater good. They also in the same vein tell you or sorry ‘guide’ you into the belief systems that anything that is detrimental to you/negative you should discard at a moments notice. What if the very thing you are doing brings about so much pain and anguish what then?

For Camp

Now there are and will always be two sides. On one here we have the ‘any goal worth having is worth fighting for’. The countless hours people like LeBron James perfect their shot in basketball, the amount of rejection Adele faced before she became the singer she is, the small businesswoman who is now a multi millionaire. All persisted beyond their threshold of pain and tasted greatness.

Against Camp

The other side. When what you are doing does not align with whatever you have/plan for the rest of your life, what is the point? Do you gain a medal or a badge for your resilience. At this point it just becomes pride of not being able to stop and start again. Reset your mentality. It is easier to carry on a false path than it is to pave a new one.

Final Thoughts

Unless it aligns with your core values and has intrinsic worth? Subjecting yourself to days/months/years of mental abuse for something that is not even going to bring about the faintest of appreciation from yourself is madness. Yes others will praise you but at the end of the day they do not live your life, you do, so why live not in tune with your self?

I live by 3 values everyday in which my decisions, plans and progress are measured against. Grit, Self Respect, Learning.

GRIT – Am I mentally strong? Do I yield to adversity or do I allow it to break me?

SELF RESPECT – Am I living true to what I believe in and not others? Do I love myself and look after not only my body but also my mind?

LEARNING – Am I learning everyday? Does what I’m doing contain a fruit or nugget for more to come?

What are your values?

Be Super.
